Tuna Kinilaw

I and my hubby really love kinilaw..especially if its Tuna Kinilaw. We are just fortunate that hubby works in a tuna company so he can avail a discounted price of tuna meat from his company.
This tuna meat is really fresh and taste good compared those who are available in the wet market.

Usually you can buy tuna cubes at P150/kilo and tuna crazy cuts at P120/kilo in the wet market.

Prices of tuna meat vary depending on the part of tuna..the most expensive i think is the tuna belly. Other parts which available are head part, ribs, the silik (sa tagiliran po ito ng tuna..di ko alam ano tawag but definitely delicious for sinigang, paksiw and prito) tail part is also available.

So here is my own version Tuna Kinilaw :

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo tuna cubes or crazy cuts tuna
1 medium cucumber, sliced thinly
1 medium raddish, sliced thinly
ginger peeled and sliced
1/4 cup kalamansi juice
1 big size onion, sliced thinly
vinegar (small amount)
salt
red sili (optional)

Procedure:

Wash and drain the tuna cubes, place in a bowl and sprinkle with salt and small amount of vinegar. Mix well and let it stand for few minutes.

Drain the tuna cubes and add kalamansi juice together with the other ingredients. Mix well and add some amount of salt to taste.

Busy As BEE!!!

I know that this coming weeks are the busiest time for Filipinos ..Its Christmas time and this means a lot of parties, shopping, food and worst the preparation of everything..

Its a double task on my part because its examination week of my children...so i need to assist them in studying their lessons (studying with a kid is the most stressful task for me..patience is a virtue..Indeed) and after this its their Christmas party..

For my preschooler, the idea of his Christmas party is unique..the school required the parent to buy a gift and submit it to the school office because Santa Claus will be the one to give the gift to our children..so my youngest son is really excited that he will going to meet Santa Claus plus he can receive gift from Santa..

Anyway, here is my schedule for the coming days

Dec 11 Bday of my hubby ( no scheduled party coz no budget for this) LOL

Dec 11-15 review lessons in the afternoon and to follow up project of hubby in the city eng'g office

Dec 12 planning to go to Davao city to renew hubby's PRC license

Dec 16-17 Examination week

Dec 17 party with my father's relative ( still undecided to attend)

Dec 19 my childrens' christmas party

Dec 22 Parent-Teacher conference in school

I still have to figure out on my next schedule but hopefully its not as busy as these days..

Ensaladang Puso ng Saging

Hi,

its a great day last saturday and i decided to cook Ensaladang Puso ng Saging or Banana bud, blossom..though I'm not really an expert chef..hehehehe but im trying to be..LOL. In fairness there are some foods that i've cooked were perfectly done by myself (that's according to my husband) but some are not :(

anyway i would like to share my recipe:

Ingredients:

1 pc medium Puso ng saging
3/4 cup of pure coconut cream
1 medium onion sliced
1 pc small ginger crushed
vinegar and salt
pepper (optional)

puso ng saging P7.00

coconut milk, onions but forgot to take picture of ginger

Procedure:

Peel off the puso ng saging, cut and boil until tender.

Mix the other ingredients except pepper bcoz of my children

then put the mixture to the boiled puso ng sanging

In other style of cooking, they cook the puso ng saging together with coconut milk and other ingredients.
